Professor Jaydip Ray

Professor Jaydip Ray is a renowned ENT Consultant based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Professor of Otology/Neurotology at the University of Sheffield as well as Sheffield Hallam University. He is affiliated to several prestigious medical institutions and societies in the UK and abroad. His expertise lies in the management of complex Balance Disorders, complex Hearing Loss and Implantable Hearing Solutions. He has over 125 peer reviewed publications and several book chapters.

He has held multiple senior leadership roles including Clinical Director, Deputy National Specialty Lead (National Institute for Health Research), Training Programme Director (Higher Surgical Training in ENT), Member of Specialist Advisory Committee (Royal College of Surgeons) and Council member of Royal Society of Medicine. He is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Joint Council of Intercollegiate Examinations, and examines for the final FRCS examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Professor Ray has an active role in training, teaching, supervising and examining PhD, MD and MSc students on various research projects. He also lectures widely and is involved in several international and national courses. He has directed the Sheffield Advanced Ear Surgery Course with international faculty and delegates and runs a Senior Clinical Fellowship in ENT attracting senior trainees from UK and abroad.

Professor Ray completed higher surgical training in ENT in Birmingham. He also gained fellowship experiences in Cambridge, Stanford University (USA) and Sydney University (Australia). His PhD dissertation was on implantable hearing devices for complex hearing losses.
